Jason O'Mara to star in 'Money'
Actor set for Lakeshore, Kimmel thriller
Wed., May 12, 2010
By DAVE MCNARY

Jason O'Mara will star opposite Katherine Heigl in crime thriller "One for the Money," from Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

Daniel Sunjata has also been cast in the film which is based on the first tome in Janet Evanovich's bestselling Stephanie Plum series about a female bounty hunter. Lionsgate recently picked up domestic distribution.

Story centers on Plum finding herself newly divorced, living in Trenton, N.J., and taking a job with her slimy cousin in the bail bond business. Her first big case is a local cop and former b.f., played by O'Mara, who's wanted for murder.

Sunjata's signed to portray a disciplined veteran bounty hunter.

Julie Ann Robinson's directing, and Liz Brixius is rewriting the adapted script. Producers are Lakeshore chair-CEO Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi, SKE chair Sidney Kimmel and Wendy Finerman ("The Devil Wears Prada").

Vulture Exclusive: Katherine Heigl’s ‘Stephanie Plum’ Movie Has a Director, and Author Janet Evanovich Has Some Advice
By Claude Brodesser-Akner

In 1993, Columbia Pictures paid $1 million for the movie rights to Janet Evanovich’s One for the Money, the first crime novel in her Stephanie Plum series, even before it went to print. Vulture has exclusively learned that seventeen years and fifteen Plum novels later, Columbia and Lakeshore Entertainment are finally hiring a director and moving ahead with the project: Julie Ann Robinson (The Last Song) will be behind the camera, with Katherine Heigl playing Plum, and shooting starts in July.

Heigl is far from the first actress to be attached to the project; Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez had both previously been set to play Plum, the unemployed lingerie saleswoman so desperate for work that she winds up at her cousin's bail-bond business. In this first book in the series, she's quickly tasked with collecting a $10,000 surety bond forfeited by a murder suspect to whom she'd lost her virginity in high school. (Apparently, the guy never called back in the old days, either.)

Since the book’s 1994 release, there have been fifteen full-length Plum novels, four holiday novellas, and a short story in a compilation of various authors' works. So, Hollywood: One Stephanie Plum novel down, fifteen full-length novels, four holiday novellas, and a short story in a compilation of various authors' works to go, right?

Washington, February 10 –

Katherine Heigl has reportedly filled in the spot left vacant by Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming movie One For The Money.

The Knocked Up actress took Witherspoon’s place after the latter withdrew from the project for unknown reasons.

Movie bosses were then said to have roped in Heigl to star as Stephanie Plum in the film based on Janet Evanovich’s novel of the same name, reports Contactmusic.

The film tells the story of an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet.

The shooting is expected to kick start once the screenplay is completed, according to Daily Variety. (ANI)

So, what do you guys think? Honestly, I don't think Katherine would be my #1 pick, but I like her, so I'm actually happy about this choice. It's an improvement over Reese Witherspoon, I think! I'm just anxious to see who will play Morelli (I'd always envisioned Edward Burns, but I think he's a bit too old by now).

Hey I'm new to this site and thought I would introduce myself :)

My name is Kelly and I am a Stephanie Plum addict lol. My mom actually got me hooked on the series roughly three years ago and I have bought and read all of them ever since then. I even have the short story one she wrote in the book "the plot thickens." ( For the people that don't know.. it's a series of short stories that seven famous mystery writers put together. ) I am anxiously waiting for the next one to come out in the number series and I have to admit I am a big Ranger fan. Don't get me wrong I like Joe also but I really really like Ranger!! :)

Well thats about it.. hi everyone!!

This is the perfect raffle for book lovers!  She's a writer, and she gets a ton of authors to give away signed books, advanced copies, critiques by authors, and lots more!  You must check it out!  If you sign up for an account, and you tell her I sent you (my username is  Ha280585) we both get a signed copy of one of her books!

(Janet Evanovich has a special auction up there too!)

Hey y'all. I was searching LJ and happened upon this site. I have been an avid fan of the Plum Series for the past three years. I have read all of the books (currently re-reading the series before Fifteen arrives) and am anxiously awaiting the next installment. Personally I'm a Cupcake fan, though I understand the appeal of Ranger. There is just something about Joseph Morelli that keeps my heart.

I have heard about the prospect of a movie, but the production/movie company has shelved it for one reason or another. Maybe one day. I've seen people have posted who they thought would be good for particular characters. I favor Rachel McAdams for Stephanie. I would have thought Sandra Bullock would have been great, but the longer they put off making the movie the less I see her in it. I just saw RMcA on some magazine cover and thought she would be perfect.

I haven't  thought of an actor for Morelli, however there is a country singer that I imagine (to a point) what Joseph Morelli would look like. That person is Joe Nichols.

After all this Plum/Morelli talk, I think I'm going to go read the next book on my list. To the Nines. :)

Hello all,

I have a Plum fanfic I thought folk here might be interested in. It's a crossover, but I tried to write it in the style of the Plum books, so would love for Plum fans to read it & would be very interested in feedback. But please do bear in mind that I wrote it for a House fandom challenge.

Title: Bounty Hunter Bedlam
Crossover fandom: House MD/Stephanie Plum
Pairing/Warning: House/Wilson, slash
Rating: PG-13
Length: 27,000 words
Author's Notes: Written for the [info]house_bigbang challenge. I am indebted to my beta and cheerleader [info]srsly_yes, whose enthusiasm, hard work and suggestions have greatly enriched the story. Enormous thanks also to the artists [info]diysheep, [info]wihluta and [info]kiuneriar.
Disclaimer: House, M.D. and all its characters belong to David Shore, Bad Hat Harry Productions, and FOX Broadcasting. Stephanie Plum and all its characters belong to Janet Evanovich.

Summary: How much havoc can a crippled Princeton doctor wreak for a disaster-prone Trenton bounty hunter? Stephanie Plum meets House and Wilson in a crime caper with absconding brothers, monster trucks, and a man with sinister eyebrows.

Full fic is here. If you'd like a taster first, you can read an excerpt and comments here.
